We have had a really exciting day, celebrating British Values in our school. We came to school dressed in red, white and blue, and we spent the day thinking about and learning about ‘What it means to be British’.

Our children explored this in a range of creative ways. In Year 5 and 6, the children held mock trials of fictional characters and in Year 3 and 4 the children created beautiful pieces of word-art. In Years 1 and 2 the children learnt all about the importance of equality, and talked and wrote about the importance of valuing each other as individuals.

Our Reception class learnt about the Queen and looked at some of the important events that have happened in her life and during her reign. They did lots of creative activities and ‘wowed’ everyone with their writing.

We finished the day with singing and tea parties in honour of the 70th wedding anniversary of the Queen and Prince Philip. We sang our school song for our school and village community and we also sang the National Anthem to recognise our British Community. Our choir sang ‘Sing’ in recognition of the wider ‘Commonwealth’ Community of which we are a part.

We finished the day with some tea parties in our classrooms. Everyone has enjoyed such a fun, interesting and thought-provoking day.
