We felt incredibly proud this week as our ‘Brigstock 400’ publication was launched.

We had put together a 400 committee back in January, but things have not quite gone to plan, with Covid changing so many of our plans. Howwever the book launch has gone ahead this week and we are delighted that we have been able to give a copy of our book to every family. We will sell the remaining copies, and we know that everyone will enjoy sharing in all the achievements that are shared within the pages of the book. It sums up all the wonderful things about our school and it is a true celebration of ‘Life in all its fullness.’

“The book looks so wonderful. We do so many things at our school, I feel very lucky that this is MY school.!”

“It was wonderful to sit down and look at this book with my children. It sums up all that we love about this school. It is a school that truly lives its values.”

We want to thank everyone who has enabled the publication to become a reality- and particularly to our children and staff who continue to do so many wonderful things.

This year our Advent Window looked amazing! It was a true celebration of our school traditions and values and we are all so proud of it.

The Brigstock School contribution to the Living Advent celebrates our past, our present and our hopes for the future.

The window has been made as part of our ‘Brigstock 400’ celebrations, and it shows all the traditions that are so important to our school. We believe that the traditions make our school so special:

“1620-2020, some things change but some stay the same…

Seasons keep turning, life keeps us learning,

Traditions will always remain”

One side of the window shows our village through time, and the seasonal celebrations that we all hold so dear.

On the other side of the window, there is an image of the first Christmas- which brought hope to us all. This year we have recorded our own hopes for the future. We have used the rainbow as a symbol of hope, as this has been such a powerful symbol during 2020.

Every child in school has made a significant contribution to the window and we hope that it will bring hope and joy to everyone who sees it during the Advent Season.

We opened the window on four separate occasions in each of our ‘bubbles’, and we felt so supported by our whole school community. We know that everyone within the village will continue to enjoy it in the run up to Christmas. Our pupil leadership team wrote a lovely assembly to share with children and parents and it felt like a very special day…despite the rain!

Well done to Lily, who painted a beautiful picture in response to our ‘Brigstock 400’ project. It shows our village through time, from a 1620 ‘Boys Only’ school room to Education for all in 2020.

Her work was chosen to be published as the Christmas card for the Diocese and it will be sent out to all schools in the diocese in December.

Well done Lily, what a fabulous achievement!
