We have all enjoyed a number of activities linked to reading to start our new term. Giving reading such a high profile will hopefully enable all of our children to become more fluent, confident readers. We also hope that they will develop a real enjoyment of reading a wide range of books, and we are doing everything we can to encourage this, through special reading events, personalised reading journals and a sponsored read event. We are so delighted that we have raised over £700, and we are developing an outdoor reading area for our children.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
We all enjoyed a really special Harvest Festival, and our theme was 'Thank You'. We took time to remember all that we have to be grateful for, and the children's leadership team prepared a special School Thank You. Children also wrote poems and prayers and every class performed a song or a poem.
It was lovely to share our Harvest with so many parents and friends of the school, and we were amazed by the beautiful Harvest boxes that were sent into school. All have now been delivered around the village or taken to the Food Bank, and we have had so many lovely letters from residents, saying 'thank you' for the gifts.
Our Art Club have amazed us yet again. They entered the Alfred East Open 19 Art Competition and were awarded a prize for their excellent Group Entry, the Brigstock Tree of Life. We received the award at the Opening Event, and the picture will remain in the gallery until the end of October. There were also two individual pieces selected, by Riley and Louie, so the school is extremely proud of our artistic achievements.
