We have had so many beautifully completed reading journals and our children have shown us how much reading they have been enjoying at home. The journals have also shown such amazing creativity and we have all been so impressed by the quality of the work in the booklets. The first group of children to complete the journals enjoyed a really special story-time in the outdoor classroom this week. Well done everybody!

Our school have been doing lots of work about Remembrance and the importance of remembering the bravery of heroes past and present. One hundred years on from the first Armistice Day, we feel proud that our children continue to show such awareness and respect for the past, and an understanding of the impact it has had on our futures.

Our Pupil Leadership Team laid the poppy wreath at the memorial on Remembrance Sunday, and all of our children went to the church on Armistice Day to join together with our church and village communities for a quiet and respectful service of Remembrance, led by our children. Following this, the whole school walked to the memorial and we paid our respects to every fallen soldier of Brigstock.

Many parents and members of the wider village and school communities joined us too. It felt very special to share this occasion with everyone.

We have all enjoyed a number of activities linked to reading to start our new term. Giving reading such a high profile will hopefully enable all of our children to become more fluent, confident readers. We also hope that they will develop a real enjoyment of reading a wide range of books, and we are doing everything we can to encourage this, through special reading events, personalised reading journals and a sponsored read event. We are so delighted that we have raised over £700, and we are developing an outdoor reading area for our children.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
